The forum has finally gotten out of beta, the new web address is http://ncnca.org/forum. Please update your links!

- text below from Bill Nicely
The forum formerly located at www.ncncaracing.com/forum has been moved to our new site at www.ncnca.org/forum. If you were a user on the old site you still have the same username and password.

A couple of notes. The first phase of the new website is completed. A few more things we are planning to roll out:

1) Migrate old results (including race calendars back to 1995!).
2) Delegate administration. We are looking for volunteers to help with content.
3) Fill the calendar for discipline other than Road by workjing wioth other groups/websites (Track, Cyclocross, MTB).
4) Create a template for race team pages.
5) Tag all the races within each series.
6) Migrate additional content such as BAR/BAT (now NCNCA Point Series) rues an archived results.
7) Migrate, edit and add content such as Meeting Minutes and outdated lists.
8) More as we think of it.

I am just adding the note so everyone understands that we are only beginning, not finishing.

Please keep comments and suggestions coming as we are documenting every request and comment. This is your site. It should serve your needs.

Cheers,
Bill

Email from the ncnca email group follows -

The Alta Alpina Cycling Club is sad to announce that the Minden Criterium on Sunday 25 July is cancelled and the Diamond Valley Road Race is confirmed with great anticipation. With all the events the club promotes: Pinenut Cracker MTB race, Kingsbury Hill Climb Time Trial, The Alta Alpina Challenge, Carson Valley Classic, Kirkwood Cyclocross (and maybe another one: check the calendar) Wild Hillacious Century Series our volunteer base could also use a break. We really love to have this race (I love to race it myself), but the number of registered riders (20) between all the categories just couldn’t make it work. There may be a lot of reasons why we were unsuccessful in promoting this race, and we will look into what we could do for next year (perhaps have both master’s championship events: road and criterium together again). Any input or suggestions are welcome (ex-non constructive criticism ;})

Please reply to alpinajr at gmail.com with any concerns or comments.

I had a suggestion if we don’t get the Master Crit Bid next year:
Only Category races, no ages. It might look like:
Cat 1,2
Cat 2,3
Cat 3,4
Cat 4,5
Women 3,4
That way Most people could race two races and test their legs with the next category up. This way all races would be somewhat cooler and everyone would have time for a dip in Lake Tahoe on the way home. Just a thought.

We will refund any pre-registered (thanks to you) riders fees.

The Diamond Valley Road Race Master’s Championship event is seeing great registration numbers and we expect to see top level racing on Saturday. The weather will be pretty warm so plan accordingly. We expect to have nuetral water, lead motorcycles and follow cars. Hope to see you there!

Details from Robert Leibold
The Oakland Grand Prix 7/5 has been replaced with the Big Creek Lumber Criterium 7/5 at the former Castle Air Force Base in Atwater (near Merced and Snelling). Everyone entered in the Oakland Grand Prix is now entered in the Big Creek Lumber Criterium. If you desire to drop out and get a credit for a future VP race, send an e-mail to velopromo at sportsbaseonline.com by Wednesday at 5pm to get the credit and the same email address to use the credit in the future. The schedule for Big Creek Lumber is going up on velopromo.com, and is the same as for the Oakland Grand Prix, with a smaller prize list and entry fee for the 1/2/Pro and Women 1/2 races, but otherwise the same. The course is flat, shady, two 90 degree right turns and one long 180 curve. My apologies for the last minute change. Please spread the word. I hope to do Oakland later in the year, date tba. I welcome your comments on how this could have been handled better next time, at velopro1 at sonnet.com —-Robert Leibold

With the return of more daylight hours, less rain and warmer weather, one may wonder if it’s time to break out the track bike. Yes it is, but check the calendar for authoritative details on regular scheduled weekend training sessions and the soon to be coming Monday night beginner training sessions.

Eligibility and rental availability for training sessions is explained by popups on the calendar so read them carefully. Since these are ongoing, no weekly retweets to spam you, but last minute changes in schedule due to weather or other circumstances will always be posted in the official Hellyer google email group so subscribe today for the timeliest updates.

A reminder that the junior/youth Sunday afternoon Hellyer sessions are starting up for 2010 this weekend.

Ten questions with Daniel Holloway

via aeniii, your Euro helmet will not be allowed in most *USCF* races, and Hellyer gets a spot on the newly resurrected US National Track Series (does that open up the district/state championship mass starts to out of staters?)
New elite nationals qualification method

Usually I just skip right to the road or cx page but that means I miss updates on the main page.

The recent upgrades/downgrades is back so you can congratulate folks ( or heckle as the case may be… :) ).

2009 champions all in one place. For the largest district in the country, U23 women don’t contest the crit/road race or did we not have an event/or min field? OTOH, no women over 60 or men over 70 either…

From Bob Leibold and Alec Berger: 11:30 pm
Velopromo and ncnca.org updates added – race looks good

From President Lorri Lee Lown:

Early Bird Road Race Conditions: 5:pm: The County road crew is still working on a slide and will be reporting to us tonight. We won’t be able to update this website further tonight however. The road was open today in midafternoon. We hope to get a note with any updates posted on the NCNCA.org website and/or a note on the NCNCA list. The County will also have a crew with a bladed vehicle clearing all rock about 3:00 a.m. (!!) Saturday, and we will have a crew in front of the first riders in the event. A slide in the morning could still close things, but we’ll be there ready to start. Weather itself looks go

Thanks to dedicated individuals of the NCNCA community, great discussions have been taking place in the public online forum for the soon-to-close elections.  Learn more about your candidates and their visions for NCNCA;
